Use an appropriately sized hole saw. Harbor freight has a set 8 tool steel cups in the following sizes: 3/4", 1", 1-1/8", 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 1-3/4", 2" and 2-1/2" for $4. Or better yet buy a 1"x 6"x 4' cut enough 1 foot lengths to equal your projectile length in inches eg, 4 inch of projectile length= ...

Need?? what does need have to do with it? why do you NEED a cell phone, why do you NEED a spudgun. I have them because I want them, and they are an ideal means to pursue dangerous or delicious tree's! You know what they say about ammo, buy it cheap, stack it deep;when you think you have enough you b...

I agree the sabot shod projectile will yield the highest muzzle velocity, but the teardrop shape is the most areodynamically efficient shape; that is why rain takes this form instead of being shaped like darts :D. I think finned projectiles are uniquely adept at their designed function: poking holes...

I disagree, Jack. APFSDS is as you say designed "to retain as much velocity as possible downrange", this does not produce the most areodynamic design, fins are inherently drag prone, they do stabilize the projectile but there are other means of doing that. APFSDS also moves several times the speed o...

http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/3063/bspanimationqk7.gif I saw this image and thought it could work with minor redesign. Instead of the spring in the back use air pressure to move the bolt. Put the spring in the front to recoil the bolt. The bolt itself will need to be a hollow (like a thick walle...

Interesting concept, but you would probably be better off using a single leaf spring from a car, cut in half. Then weld each half to a collar which would fit around a steel pipe sort of like a giant crossbow. then you could use a come-a-long to pull a cable stung between the leaves. By the time you ...

Ragnarok is correct and incorrect. I didn't change the valve stats, because I don't know them, I would lean more toward his estimation in that respect. I definitely misunderstood something in the inner and outer diameter of the chamber (why would the program ask for outer diameter??) I used the oute...

yes, 105 mm sorry for that, my memory was off. http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/2217/ggdtui7.jpg There's my ggdt read out, I have tried to optimize barrel size using the program and it seems the program is set up for guns using short large diameter barrels. I was hoping to utilize a heavy projecti...

The flechettes seem to be on everyone's mind so here's the dope. The US military originally designed them for use in 155mm artillery "beehive" rounds (called beehive because thats what 1,000 of these raining down on you would sound like). The military decided these would be great as a shotgun load, ...
