I'm looking for some suggestions for 2" Ammo
I built a fairly simple 2" barreled pneumatic spud gun awhile back and I've been unable to come up with any creative ideas for ammo. I'd prefer not to have to spend 8 dollars + shipping for a single round, I just want something cheap I can reuse that gets good range. Any ideas?

I wouldn't advise trying to build pneumatic cartridge system (here JSR and I are talking about the same thing) before you've built a piston valve though... I understand. I'll construct a PVC Piston valve and connect it to my STILL not constructed gun after sawing off part of the barrel and connecti...

The Friction based ammo thing is a bit odd... What about a check valve that blocks air from the chamber? Let me see if I can get something here... http://filesmelt.com/dl/semiauto_354.gif There we go :D -EDIT- FAIL! forgot to draw the piston in the first slide XD -EDIT- What can i make a check valve...

Multiple Shot Design Confusion
So is there any DISADVANTAGE to multiple chambers? Because again, Its for looks and compactness. However if it reduces functionality then i'm worried. A multiple shot design doesn't require multiple valves necessarily. You could set it up like a grenade launcher, where the grenades are a cylinder of...

If the leakage is sealed or very small, a small blowgun will be able to pilot very large valves, but it may take a while to vent the pilot area low enough to fire. And the slower the less power because the piston won't open very quickly, less air will flow out the barrel and then you get more of a ...

Glitches
I really like that Trident. So just wondering, Is there any advantage whatsoever to having multiple chambers? I always thought i could make it more compact that way. I wanted to make something that looked kinda like a grenade launcher. http://www.exchange3d.com/images/uploads/aff126/model_519_aaa.jp...

All the pipe fittings, valves, flow controls, regulators, compressors, and other building materials you can ever imagine are on McMaster (except the ones you'd be better off making yourself). Just go to their home page, and search "pipe" and pick a material you like. Once you get used to it, the si...

Whoa... nice find on the compressor. Thanks :D :D :D :D Anywho, I might order that. I don't see a Shipping cost. However, I'll do that AFTER I build the gun. Considering that a compressor is REALLY the last thing I need. By Metal piston, I didn't mean a piston made of metal. I meant as in a piston ...

Really? EPIC! I'm going to assume its good then. MRR Makes good videos. Anywho, how is this piston HEAVY ? its hot glue, a piece of rubber and a screw. Sounds lightweight to me. :D I don't want to use Mcmaster because I would rather not give them credit card information, I've never heard of them, so...

Fascinating Saefroch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75O71AHTIr4 I found this and it seems quite helpful. I just... don't have a hole saw to make a piston :l. Jigsaw MIGHT do it though. Anyways, now that i think about it, I might want to do a chamber sealing piston. It seems relatively simple so it ...

This is why any coaxial piston valve tends to knock the socks off the same size sprinkler valve in a competition. When the valve is built into the chamber as a coaxial, the plumbing leading into the valve is non existent. The flow out of the valve is a single bend from the sides into the outlet. Oh...

Are you asserting that friction is a function of area? So far as I know ( check if you want ), friction is equal to the coefficient of friction times the normal force. Nothing about area in there... I have not responded to this yet. This is simply a function of how close the majority of the flow is...

Just a quick note on speed, There is a point of diminishing returns when valves get faster than a certain speed, much like there is diminishing returns on really large chambers. Also keep in mind, as Ragnarok has said many times and Technician1002 never seems to wrap his mind around, valve opening ...
