Interesting, just out of curiosity, have you thought about modifying the angle seat valve to be outlet-sealing like this ? (He made it out of a wye strainer though). Well the schedule 80 pvc I'm using is rated for 400 psi and the burst pressure is usually 3-4 times higher than the rated pressure so I should be fine.

NighthawkInLight is the closest example I can think of to your description. His channel focuses on a variety of subjects but he has also made numerous videos dedicated to building air cannons.
