Hope everything goes well Jrrdw.
Thanks Wyz but I'm looking for someone in the US or maybe Canada. Shipping across the ocean is probably too much for how little work I need done.

Is anyone still active in this thread? I've been working on some parts in the machine shop at school but I accidentally graduated and they won't let me back in

Re: New to hybrids
I had a hybrid firing a 6x with two badly tapped 1/4" NPT holes in the main part of the chamber. .One was a mistake hole which had a plug in it and the other had my spark plug in it. Neither hole ever had any problems, which was pretty surprising to me. If I ever had to it again I'd figure out some ...

Re: AP Physics Project
I could see a tennis ball getting chucked ~50 meters by those specifications. Getting a consistent valve that will seal at 5 or 10 psi will be the trick since that 3 meter shot sounds tricky.

Looks good! Nice simple launcher with plenty of room for reconfiguration and modifications.

This should be good to go! I'll be able to test fire in a couple weeks when I go back to school.

Re: Recycling pilot volume
Personally I'd use the air to cycle a magazine; redirecting it to the chamber or barrel wouldn't do anything productive enough. The small pilot volume would be adequate to drive an air cylinder/piston rod though and that could translate to a magazine's elevator or ejecting an old shell and chamberin...

Re: New to hybrids
Yep, a fueling/filling manifold is what I was suggesting.
I've only ever used a ball valve rated to 600 psi, just an ordinary ball valve off the shelf at the hardware store. It's always worked fine, but I've only shot at 6x mixes with it. I trust it would hold up to much higher mixes though.

Re: New to hybrids
I've always liked SB15's method of filling air directly through the fueling manifold. It allows you to only have one valve to shut off the combustion chamber from all the gauges, filling, etc. It also ensure proper mixing, which I had trouble with previously.

Re: WhatsApp spudfiles chat ?
Maybe I'm a bit behind the times, but the smallest screen I currently own is a 17" laptop. ;) How about just using a public jabber server ? And I've got a flip phone from 2009! :D The chat we have now works as a chat but it's just so easy to miss people. I'd say it's partly because we're pretty wel...

Re: 300 psi pneumatic, a couple questions
Sounds like you're making a rather expensive pneumatic grenade
I've experienced PVC exploding on a couple occasions and it's never fun. Schedule 80 pipe might be able to handle 200 psi (might!) but I'd be very skeptical/terrified of 300 psi...

Re: QEV size/barrel diameter relationship
A sprinkler valve can launch a golf ball pretty well; that's about a 1:2 ratio between the valve and barrel sizes. As long as the valve is decent, half the barrel size seems to work pretty well for casually chucking stuff. If you're aiming for high velocities of course you would want a bigger and be...

Re: 2" Pnuematic Cannon Build
Looks good so far. If your tire valve feels a little loose or anything, don't worry. Under pressure they generally seal up well because the air in the chamber tries to push the valve out of the pipe.
