coil guns?

hey. I've been messing around with a small and VERY simple coil gun and I'm looking to go more advanced but I cant seem to find a forum online where there is coil or magnet gun talk. Does anyone know of a forum where I can get some ideas and get some questions answered?

exhaust muffler

I was randomly browsing mcmaster and I came across "exhaust mufflers" (page 312). I was thinking, would these work well to shut up annoying pilot valves? I use a 1" pilot valve on my large piston cannon and it makes a really annoying high pitched noise when you release it. It seems like it would be ...

CO2 in pvc?

I was thinking about using a 12gram co2 bike pump to fill one of my mini pnuematics. My question is, is there any danger that using co2 directly into pvc will cause the pvc to get cold? I heard that chilling pvc greatly increases the chances of it shattering.

Golf ball barrell

I heard that sleeving 2" sch 40 pvc with another piece of 2" sch40 will make a barrell perfect for golf balls. But I have also heard of sleeving sdr21 in 2" sch80. Which will work better? And what is the best way to aquire a piece of sdr21?

The difference between water and air is what would happen if the pipe does go. At pressure like 100psi air is compressed more than water, so if the pipe does go the air will expand alot more than water causing the pipe to become more bomb-like.

Make sure you have pressure rated pvc. It should have writing on along the pipe and somewhere in the writing it will say how much psi. for 1 1/2" its probably something like 300 psi. Now be aware, thats a rating for water pressure. With compressed air its probably best not to go above about 120 psi.

i only had 3 joints to solder so it took bout 20-30 minutes. Most of the time I was trying to get the 1/2" pipe centered so that the piston would work right.
