OK, I don't see why some of y'all are suggesting one psi. If I don't have the smaller chamber at a higher psi than the main chamber, then the greater pressure in the main chamber will force the piston to move towards the end of the gun and thus firing the gun. The smaller chamber's pressure in hold ...

Why use two different pressure's though? If the pressure on both sides of the "piston"(though it's more of a cap or top) is at equilibrium, then the cannon has the chance to misfire, either from being jolted, dropped, or a possible air leak that might make the smaller chamber's psi less than the la...

Would this design work?

I was just wondering. The picture should be self-explanatory.

Blue = air @ 110psi
Red = air @ 120psi

....Do you really want all that sticky mess? It'll be fun for one-offs but any common use of it is going to be a pain. It'll work. The same way vinegar and bicarb will work but don't expect huge pressures. It'd probably jsut be easier to use Coke and Mentos as fountains, now that I've thought about...

(sorry if I'm resurrecting this thread)

My first cost about $65. Most of the price was for PVC elbows, adapters, couplings and a pressure gauge.

My next one is probably gonna set me back $100 because it has so many parts.

Eh, I'm not much of a Dragonforce fan. 80's hair metal rock ballads aren't my interest, although I will give many kudos to the guitarists, as they have fingers of flying fury!

Coke and Mentos for power?

Could it be possible to mod or create a pneumatic gun, but whose pressure and power come from the reaction between Diet Coke and Mentos? I was thinking of some like adding two ball valves, one after the other, on one end of the "air" chamber. Put some Coke in, then close both ball valves. Open the f...

Let me introduce myself...

First off, I'm not really a novie at this stuff. I've looked into and researched pneumatic spudguns at length. Something about launching things hundreds of feet into the air seems really cool to me. My first gun (no pics, sry) has a 5' long, 1.5" diameter barrel (SCH 80, I think) and a 18" long, 3" ...
