Just to clarify how this works, as I think the last few posts are a bit off track... The 'u' made of two pieces of copper is not a venturi, the venturi is the stock one in the jet lighter. This won't work with a regular lighter. The pipe is open on the end, so that (ignoring the small amount of back...

Seems the leak problem was caused by trying to operate the valve below the minimum pressure so it didn't close completely. For all components and inverter and compressor it will be $600 +/- 100. A bit steep, but with the on board power and air now, it is quite a versatile setup beyond just the adjus...

It works :D. Nice when things work as planned. Or at least mostly work... the pressure on the passenger bag creeps up, which is strange, I was expecting leaks not a pressure increase. Got home from where I was installing tonight and it was up to 50 psi on that side! All I can think is that some dirt...

Have a look at this thread . I ended up giving up on it because it became unreliable. I think it was the poorly sealing rubber washer where the rod came out allowing extra air in and causing the mix to be too lean. Could be fixed with an o-ring, I just didn't pursue it. I did try slamming the handle...

You may have mentioned this at some point in the past, but what gauge wire do you use for the inverter, and how long a run is it to the trunk? I want to keep it as short as possible since heavier gauge is more expensive, so will probably have it under the drivers seat. Yes, I came to the same conclu...

It just so happened the 5 way 3 position valves were on sale for $30, only 5 more than the regular solenoid valve also in the picture, so I picked up two: http://i38.tinypic.com/34i4qbn.jpg I will plug 2 ports, B and Be, so that it functions as a 3 way 3 position valve - fill/off/exhaust. So pretty ...

Yes they need to be individually controlled, or at least isolated from each other so that air doesn't transfer between with an uneven load or when cornering. I wasn't going to have a regulator, just two valves for each bag, air in and air out. But I guess I could have a central regulator, two check ...

Airbag spring monitoring/control
Been out of the loop for a while now, focusing on other interests (and getting firearms license this month so there probably won't be any more small hybrids from me :P), but I'm designing something that I could use your guys' input on since the components are related to spudding. Project in question...

I may be being a bit stubborn because I want to buy some aluminum to machine and play with a hybrid, and it's easier to justify the cost for this than a cannon :D. I suppose I should separate the two if I'm serious about finding the best solution for the chisel. Damn logic. I did some research today...

Two would probably be easier to make, I was just seeing if I could get it to work with one, in keeping with making it compact. The wider parts in the piston are supposed to be holes drilled to the hollow part in the center. Fuel/air are regulated in, this is just on/off control basically. The extra ...

I don't know a lot about them myself, but there are different materials for orings, perhaps there is some exotic material that would stand up to the heat? Still probably need cooling to stay within their operating range. Again, not something I know a lot about, but car engines use metal rings on the...

Well I think it may be theoretically possible if you delayed the return of the control valve with a shock or something, but that's another level of complication. Safety/fueling/venting needs to be controlled by chisel position. If it was the nail gun style of a separate piece, it may not touch the r...

Thanks for the input guys. In your defense my posts can be wordy, I would probably skip to the pictures myself :D. Well you could lose the upper set of stops on the chisel in the last picture I posted to prevent the chisel's downward movement from ripping the valves open. $2k for a fence post driver...
