Part 2 is working though.

It won't make much sense, but the Spudfiles shout out is on there.

UPDATE: Won spray n' pray competition. Results on Youtube

A few months ago, I asked for help in regards to outfitting a simple spray N' pray to defeat some friends of mine in a competition. The response was outstanding, and I am proud to say that we defeated our foes handily. Not only did we defeat them, but it has been documented on video. This video was ...

It's going to stink. I went through a bunch of "chemical" sprays and they left me gaging. Try Suave deodorant..blue can, baby powder scent, I think. The burnt smell is alot better. Another good one, believe it or not, is cooch spray. I mean something like FDS. Thanks for the tips, but I'm just inte...

Is Gunk Thrust (Engine Starter Fluid) Safe 4 Spray N Pray

So I have a basic spray N pray I just constructed out of PVC pipe, and I am wondering if using Gunk's Thrust is safe for the piping. This aerosol is extremely flammable, and I am sure it would make an excellent propellant assuming it is safe enough to use. Thanks.

Sorry guys pics are gonna have to wait b/c of surgery I had. (Non-spud related injury and it was minor stuff)

However, I tried static guard, and it is great. Also after the potato is loaded I found that spraying WD-40 down the barrel reduces friction, and thus the potato travels further and faster.

*UPDATE* I took my existing spray n pray which is a 3 inch combustion chamber with a 2in barrel (other specs to come), and I installed a fan with a 9 volt battery hookup. The fan was placed on the interior of the blast cap. Also I re-did my BBQ spark ignition. I tried it in the dark, and the spud so...

So here is what I now know.

1. Install a brushless fan.

2. Try to use an aerosol other than hairspray. (static guard?)

However, the question I largely want answered is: what is the best ratio for a spray n pray if I want the spud to travel 200+ yards?

Thanks to all for the fan ideas. Since I'm new to this site, does anyone know of a link to a thread with basic instructions on a basic fan? And what is the fan that I should not use for fear of sparks?

I'm afraid I wasn't clear. Although I would someday love to use advanced metering systems and propane, I'm afraid that will not be the case for this competition. Specifically I am looking for advice on the "spray and pray" model. Also does starter fluid come in a spray? Thanks

Help on improving my cannon for competition

So a buddy and myself each have our own combustion based PVC potato cannons. The specs are pretty simple. We have the 2 inch barrel with the 3 inch combustion chamber. We are having a competition in the coming weeks. As a result, I will be building a new one that will ideally go 200+ yards. I have h...
