Re: JSR's workshop chronicles
Nothing wrong with low tech at all. The only real problem with digital caliper DROs apart from the small readout (and that can be taken remote with a bit of work and an arduino) is refresh time; rather than emitting a quadrature signal in real time there's a sample output every x milliseconds, which...

Re: JSR's workshop chronicles
Sweet! So... do you just butt it up to the ways to make sure it's parallel? Slap it on, eyeball it straight to the ways and get after it. If you look across one straight item at another, it's fairly easy to see relatively minor angles of "off kilter"....and I'm under no pretense that I'm holding +/...

Re: How-to: Syringe Fuel Metering
Hi everyone! I've been reading this forum long time now and I have built few hybrids aswell. Recently I have cranked up my mixes and I started to think about that if I have chamber, lets say 30ml and I go for X20 mix with MAPP gas with 4,66% mixture. So equation is then 0,0466 X (30ml + 1,5ml) = 1,4...

.25 cal Umarex 1894 Conversion
Imgur album below https://imgur.com/a/sEVcgje I picked up this fun .177 rifle last year. A handy little lever action and a decent plinker, but I actually primarily wanted it for the mechanism which imitates the real gun with shells that chamber and eject with a wonderful metallic ratcheting. I spend...

Shock absorber spring rifle?
I bet a motorcycle or automotive shock absorber could be turned into a wicked spring rifle... might be on the dangerous side tho! Inspired by seeing one in the dumpster the other day.

Small pirate cannon
Some friends talked me into chipping in on a horrible pontoon boat from Craigslist, so I figured it needed a cannon. 4.jpg Youtube vid of building and testing it: https://youtu.be/y364uvJSq-U I still need to swap out the air hookup for a self-shutting version, otherwise I've just been keeping it hoo...

Potato Howitzer
I just finished building a wheeled potato "howitzer" out of spare parts. It works pretty well, although I need to take it somewhere a bit more rural for testing once it's legit to travel around again. 1.jpg 2.jpg Youtube vid: https://youtu.be/ocxYe_j6nOw It's got the standard 2" barrel & 4" chamber ...

Re: Potato Howitzer
Nice! I'm very impressed by all the "errata" like the homemade scrap elevation adjustment and frame. I can tell a lot of persistence was required to get all of that to fit together, good job! Few suggestions: 1.) As far as the recoil springs, they probably won't do much with light projectiles like l...

Re: "Offtopic-posts-topic" NSFW
Its been a good ten years since I've actually been active here, and it's good to see some of the old folk still around. I'm happy to see that things are running smoothly thanks to PCGUY's continued oversight! Ashamed to say that I haven't had much time to get out and build much lately, the last coup...

PNEUMATIC GUN WITH VALVE QEV
Made a gun of 40 mm caliber, used a piston valve. The gun works well at pressures up to 20 atm, no longer possible, because the rubber on the piston is torn.

here is an approximate diagram of the valve. Used a coarse water filter.

Re: PNEUMATIC GUN WITH VALVE QEV
A few days ago, I managed to make and test a piston valve with a caliber of 40 mm. I managed to make an exit into the barrel with a diameter of 14 mm. I pumped 50 atm into a cannon with a homemade pump.
