I put an ad out on Craigslist saying I was buying used caulk tubes, let's see if I get any bites!
Construction site rubbish piles would have plenty of them if your their at the right time.

Some freak weather patterns caused it to snow in South Texas for the first time in 12 years, naturally I had to take advantage of it!
Found it that with a bit of wadding a tightly packed snowball could be fired very far! If you pack it hard enough it won't break as it exits the barrel, but if you put it in loose them you get a nice shotgun effect.
The neighborhood kids were having a blast with this new addition to their snowball wars.

This isn't so much effective in terms of functionality, but french fries, bread, and ketchup packets work great for effective fun!
Ketchup packets especially.

I feel bad about shooting edible ammunition too so I got these for free by asking them for the day old food they were going to throw out anyways!

That would have made a nice vine if vines were still a thing
On a more serious note, careful about screwing around in the road like that, I bet your average LEO would not be very amused.

Very true! Which is why we made sure to notify the one who lives down the street (and is my friend's dad) that we'd be having fun that night

These have served my and my friend well from being "launched" by badminton rackets and slingshots to any number of cannons with a 3/4" barrel. The biggest benefit is the straight trajectory.
