I propose a challenge to all!
I want to see who, if any, can build a successful water balloon projectile.

Rules:
  1. It must not break or leak water until it impacts a solid surface.
  2. Water must have same viscosity as tap water
  3. The outside of the projectile must be flexible
  4. Projectile must be at least the size of a golfball in diameter; bigger is better
  5. It must be launched from an air cannon at 50 psi or more
  6. Projectile must travel at least 150 feet
  7. Colored or dyed water is recommended for visibility
  8. Video proof is recommended though pictures are fine too

Thats easy, stick one balloon inside another untill you get like 5 or so. That should make it handle a good strong launch. My barrel has a 1" bore, it would be a waste of my time to try it. A golf ball diameter is about 1 1/2" isn't it?

I was just looking around the forums for some info - and found this.

Actually, your dream projectile already exists in my country ready made - a variant of the HDPE plastic bag. They come in various sizes in my country and are used by drink sellers as cheap packaging for drinks.

They are much better than balloons because they are a lot cheaper and also because they don't need a tap to fill them with water. You can just put them into water and fill them that way, just make sure that the string is tied properly. They also explode a lot more easily than water balloons. Well, I never encountered a waterbomb thrown at me which didn't burst upon hitting the ground -

Unfortunately, I don't have a camera or spudgun, so no videos or pictures. I'm not sure if they're sold in your area(s), but I should think so.
