How can I do this? I read somewhere that 1.5" PVC works, but...it doesn't. The ball is too big (for golfballs).
Is 2.5" PVC the exact right size for tennis balls?

To get a GB barrel, go to bcarms.com. They carry sdr21, which fits golfballs like a dream.
And yes, 2.5" fits tennis balls.

You found some at a Home Depot?
Did you have to look hard in the back or was it just out there?

I love this forum, I just wish people actually used it.

Tennisballs:

I got all those results from the first page of searching 'tennis' for tennis ball barrels.
The golfball topic was a sticky in 'construction materials and ammo discussion' but would also be at the top of your results if you had searched.
You're lucky I didn't lock this thread, please search in the future, even the first page of results has more then enough information to answer your question.

there was like three stacks 1 1/2, 3/4, and 1/2 inch, it was with the rest
of the pvc pipe wasn't hard to find at all. every home depo may not carry it though, the one by where i used to live carried sch 40 pressure rated pipe and fittings upto 4", but where i live now your lucky to find 2".

yeah each home depot is a crap shoot, it sucks i can't get any pvc fittings above 2 " and even the 2" ones that i can find suck the selection blows. that is why i go to irrigation specialists and get everything i need and they are cheaper.

me personally i don't sleeve the barrel just because i can't find sch 80 2" around me, but to me it really doesn't matter the sdr21 is pressure rated and all i fire is golf balls out of it. even though it is a thin wall all the sch 80 2" does is make a longer barrel sturdier.

I asked a plumbing store about ABS and sdr21 and they looked at me like I was crazy. Then said they had parts and showed me sprinkler hose barbs. Finding those two thins, along with sch80 is near impossible to me. Im gonna buy 2.5" conduit I think.

I found a place locally that sells 2.5" PVC for about $1 a foot. Only thing is minimum of 20ft. Still though, at BC Arms I'd pay $15 + shipping for 5ft. They also sell SDR21 for about $.50 a foot.
Here's my question: can you still shoot potatoes outta a golf ball barrel? Is it just like shooting them outta a 1.5" barrel? I like 2" barrels for potatoes, so I guess I can buy another 5ft piece of 2" PVC and just toss the SDR21 in it.
Gosh I have so much left over PVC. I guess I'll just keep it for the next gun that I make.
Edit: Also when you "sleeve" the SDR21 with 2" PVC do I cement it or just toss it inside the 2" and shoot?

Well, that will depend on if you'd like your new barrel to become airborne.
