Hi all,
I was messing around and found this to be an easy way to cast ammo quickly.
Make a hollow paper roll equal to the ID of a barrel, cut it to equal sized pieces and fill it with molten hot glue.
The resulting slugs can be further perfected by casting cones with hot melt glue and attaching those to the slugs.
Still have to look into a way of making equal sized paper cones for the molds.
Results:
Hot melt glue cast ammo
now just mold it in some concrete or plaster...

Looks good!
Have you tested em yet?
Wont they tumble around during flight? (consider hollow-tail)

You could also put some lead shot or similar heavy metal particles in the nose portion before you pour in the gluepsycix wrote:Wont they tumble around during flight? (consider hollow-tail)

I used a piece of crap cellcore pvc that I had lying around. But 32mm cellcore has not the same ID as 32mm pressure rated PVCsthorne wrote:well first of all TNW_NL, what caliber/size are your hot-glue slugs/ what is the size of the barrel you are using them for??
Diameter of this slug is about 25mm. The proper diameter should be in the range of 27-29mm I think.
At the moment this is just an idea for making slugs. Later I will try to cast a larger number of test slugs with the correct size
By the way, since its original purpose is to glue things together, it is hard to make reusable moulds. For example, it will not glue PVC together properly, but it sticks to it quite well.
It seems to have less grip on polyethylene plastic, maybe I'm going to make a mould out of that material.
