So, the other day, i walked to ace hardware and asked "do you guys have shrader valves?" the guy goes "huh?" i proceed to explain " a bicycle tire valve" the guy goes "no.."
The weird part is, i have been to that ace before and asked for a shrader valve and immediately the man walked off and came back with one, this was back in august.

so, i go to advanced auto and ask for a shrader valve, the bearded creep asks me what i need it for, i said "for a bike tire" hes like "well i dont know what a shrader valve is, but go look over there by tire repair" so i look and all i found were valve extenders...

Does anyone know where i can find the elusive shrader valve?

Most car parts suppliers carry them. I get all of mine from NAPA Auto Parts.

Look in the pneumatic tool accessory section. Threaded schrader valves are usually there.

The section in home improvement stores that has water pumps etc. has brass threaded schraders. Have a closer look.

I work at ace and we carry them in two different sizes. Not all ace stores carry the same stuff but you should find it in one of two places.

One place would be with the air tools and stuff...

The second is with all the brass fittings... in those tiny little drawers.

Sometimes you get a clerk who doesn't know squat. I bet you if you ask some of the people I work with if we had a schrader valve they would scratch their heads look at you like a dog listens to a high pitched noise, before telling you nope.

Any self respecting hardware store would have them they are very common buggers...

Yes well, one would think that a self respecting hardware store would also carry a large selection of springs and music wire, but the Ace near me doesn’t have either.
Call me "Judge", it's easier to type.

Like I said what they stock varies from store to store...sorry, man, can't please everyone 8)

But what ever they don't carry give me a PM and I can tell you how to get it from that store if your willing to wait a few days. They would have to order it from the ware house but I can make it rather pain free and get you the info you need to know to you don't spend a half hour waiting for them track down the info to complete the order.

I've always gotten them from a building supply store that my dad works at but one time when they were closed I found them at O'Reileys auto parts, you may check there, it's the only store that I've seen that had them besides the store my dad works at

Schrader valves did indeed fall off the face of the earth. As a result BCARMS has relocated to Pluto. The land was really cheap, but the heating bill is outrageous.

Ready, three, two, one...

Just keeping the (new) tradition alive. I actually added some variations to the FF spellchecker... :P

Of course, in a pinch, you can often acquire presta valves by cutting them out of bike inner tubes. It's not a schrader, but most decent pumps can handle both head types.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

How much stronger are the brass (or any metal) schrader valves compared to the rubber shrader valves, in terms of psi?

EDIT:
I just cut open one of my rubber schraders, to get at the brass core, so that I can solder it to my copper gun.
Is this stronger than using the rubber stopper method it had to begin with?
Or am I just wasting time and valves?
