I got everything I need! I just nedd neoprene.. I asked some guy and he acted like he never knew what it was.. Where can I get it?

mcmaster has it. you can get neoprene washers at home depot.

i like to cut up rubber end caps or use inner tubes. its easier to get then neoprene.

beer coozies. seems like a liquor store is always giving them away for free around here.

ask for gasket sheet at lowes or similar. come in 6" x 6" sheets in thicknesses of 1/8" and 1/16". It's not neoprene, per se, but it works perfectly for all your sealing purposes.

This may be a little off topic, but Ill throw it out there anyway:

My wife had an accident in December. When I went to the vehicle to clean it out, I remembered I just put a brand new radiator cap on it. I took the cap with me, unknowing that it would actually come in handy one day.

Anyway, the other day, I went to build a piston for my upcoming project and ran into the same problem as you. I took the radiator cap apart. It has two rubber washers in it. One fits a 1" piston and the other fits a 1.5" piston. (The larger washer is used to seal the union in my hybrid).

I paid $4 for the cap, and salvaged a spring and two rubber washers from it. It is one of those safety popup types.

yes they are. just cut them in half.

I am holding a can one right now, Its like 1/4". And looks poruos a bit.

ebay has what you need.

Of course it is porous. It is neoprene and not solid rubber. It is all those little holes that help keep your beverage cold or your hands warms. Usually there will be one side that is 'finished' and that works well for a sealing face.

Seconded. All the hardware stores around me Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace have these gasket sheets that are made out of some kind of red rubber. They are usually in one of the plumbing aisles. I've always used the 1/8"

You can get rubber sheet membrane at fleet farm or at a home center..Its used for roof menbranes or for making ponds....Its a synthetic rubber....I think??? Its sold by the foot.
