pvc chemical resitance question

now lets just say i wanted to store gasoline in pvc under pressure... how bad of an idea would that be?

the pvc is 3" and caped on both ends with a couple 1/4" threaded ports in it. the pvc tank would be pressurized with 40 to 60 psi of co2. i am aware gasoline eats away pvc but my question is more of how quickly does gas dissolve it? and if this is a flat out terrible idea can you suggest a liquid that is more flammable than denatured alcohol and rubbing alcohol yet does not eat away pvc? and btw propane has already been tested and although extremely cool it does not have the range i desire

Well that depends: how close will you be to this pressure vessel? Because if it's being placed where I think it will be, the answer to your question is "very".

Have you thought of coating the inside of the tank with something? I haven't gotten around to this stuff, but I'm hopeful this will work

I vote metal tank. But find a way to ground it and get rid of static electricity.

Ground it to your wrist or something, like those computer wrist bands. You attach to the computer and your wrist while you work on them so you don't short circuit anything or something like that.

That would be cool if you could ground it by wearing metal cleats and having the tank connected with a wire to them. If that's how a ground works...

What about using one of those pretty cheap husky air tanks? Although I don't know how heavy they are.
