You know how certain couches and the like are filled with little plastic beads? They often make great ammunition and can be ound cheeply on scrap yards. At timey you will find tens of thousands in a single couch, great stuff. I am not sure if it is really 6mm or slightly less.

These things are going to vary in size quite a bit so it would make for some fairly sloppy inconsistent shooting.

True but if you really need lots it is a way to go about it and you can sort by sizes, then you can have different barrels for the different sizes

I agree with starman and also I'm talking about using these for airsoft these might be good for target practice but for airsoft I can't have a couch beed thats slightly too big for my barrel jamming up my gun in the middle of a firefight

I don't know if you consider this cheap, maybe you could split it up with your airsofting friends, but airsplat has 125k .20's for $240 + shipping, and 200k .12's for $250 + shipping, but no one will split them with you because they don't work in AEG's.
airsplat has a bad reputation, so be careful
ebay has some
here. They are cheaper than airsplat, and the guy's feedback isn't bad...

Ok thanks. Yeah that might work. Does anyone know where to get like 10k for below $10?

I wouldn't trust the feedback. Most airsoft players are kids, and kids don't know quality from crapola. Quality BB's are easy to spot if you know how to look. No seams, no burrs, and they should be heavily polished.

Would quality really matter in a 5/16" barrel? I'm pretty sure there is plenty of "wiggle room." Of coarse i wouldn't want lumps of plastic that slightly resemble bb's but maybe some seams, some burrs won't really matter?

if you live near a indoor airsoft arena, or an airsoft pro shop you can get the bbs for free if you have some time. personally i either go sweep up bbs before they close on saturday nights (the busy night) once every other week or so. the pro shop (somewhat) near my house has a backstop for their chrono that drops into a 4x3x4 tank, and they call me when it needs cleaning, or if i run out i go over and take out about 15 gallons of bbs. but with in any case of using used bbs, you want to not only sift out the broken bbs, but all the debris (pieces of drywall, cigarette butts, etc) so it dosnt jam in your gun. you wouldnt think broken bbs would matter, but if you get a good bb and a piece of a bb wedged in your gun, not good news (especially if your gun is like mine, where the fill cap is only friction hald on for faster reloading, nice shotgun effect anyway)

depending on how much variation your barrel can take, I'd suggest unpopped pop corn kernels
as for cheapest 6mm bb's your best bet is going to be the cheap walmart variety

Very Very cheap but requires a $100 min order. They also have other things useful for airsoft so its not hard getting $100 worth of good stuff.
Technically you could get 46 bags of 5000 for $101
Thats 230,000 bbs.
Thats .00044 cents per BB.
Or you could get 21 bags for $49 (105,000bbs) and use the last 50 or so to get this:
