was thinking those ground popping things you get from the ice cream guys would be cool, fill a barrel with like 4 boxes worth of them, shoot them out. When you fire them you should eventually hear a ton of pops probably like 100 if u get 4 boxs maybe more. 200? iuno they arent that loud but they may be cool considering you dont have to ignite them like tryin to shoot a firecracker it ignires itself. Iuno someone try it ^^

Those things are filled with gunpowder, they might explode in the barrel, making it pointless. Maybe if you put one on a burst disk and hit it with a spring hammer, you could blow a hole in the burst disk.

I think this is not really "gun powder" ...

And the explosion they do is so small then i think this is not very dangerous ...

This is a good idea. but i live in canada and ... all these thing are illegal :(

I believe that those things are bits of flint coated with silver fulimate. (checks) Yep, they are silver fulimate.

Anyways, the amount of explosive compostion on them is probably small enough that it won't damage the gun during launch if they go off.
Acctualy, we apparently have proof of that from our helpfull freind Benny.

My recomendation is to pack them in a thin layer with a bit of padding. If they still go off, put some sort of inertial dampening behind them - a potato, for instance - so that they don't feel as many Gees appon launch.

I've tried it and posted on the sticky Ammo topic. http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1724&

To quote myself:
Cut a slice of spud about 1/2 thick. Use that for wadding. Poke it a little ways down the barrel. Sprinkle in a few go-pop thingums. Cut another slice of spud and layer it on top. Now gently ram it all home.

I fired with my pneumatic and got a really nice secondary flash and pop on impact.
If you have a pneumatic, go for it.

lol, i just made a topic asking for "pop-it" gun ideas.. i want to be able to shoot full auto.

they are not filled with gunpowder. they are filled with rocks crystal things that explode when there is friction. ive had a couple go off in my hand (i was grinding them together to make one fit in my blowgin) and you cant even feel it. there is no chance your barrel will explode

Don't let DR on Spudtech get ya down. He's a bit overprotective of the forum there but he technically is right. Here, though, we are not under the exact same limits and I vote to let this one slide as long as you aren't talking about unwrapping all these little things and making one giant projectile. (Yes, I have done it. I would advise to not.)

I have found these to be best in my tiny combustion. 5" long 1" chamber, propane-injected, 12" long 1/4" barrel I think, maybe 3/16" or 7/32" or something. It's pretty fun tossing those little poppers accross the room towards unsuspecting victims.

Edit: I put this in the wrong thread, wow. I'm dumb. BTW, I won't let Pimp lock this unless it gets out of hand.

in the upcoming presidential election, there will be several candidates who will be running, one of whom is Hillary Clinton. Now WAIT A SECOND!!! I though there was some sort of rule that prevented someone from serving more than two terms in office. Vote Against Hillary: Presidential Elections 08

hmmm in pretty sure that they are little rocks coated in iodine compounds...its been a while but thats what i remember. i think that they take ammonia and iodine mix them andtake he resulting crystals and use that
There are rules, and then there are hundred dollar bills.

Ok, the compound you are thinking of is NI3.
Which is many times too sensitive for storage or holding, or really anything. Heck, it has a bad track record just sitting there in a pile.

yes, its called ammonium iodine, and some friends of mine, whose names i will not reveal , cooked up some ammonium iodine paint, which when dries, is very shock, friction sensitive. they then proceded to paint someones locker door with this substance. let me tell you, when this stuff dries, it is a BITCH! it explodes with the slightest touch, a very low velocity explosion for that matter, and whoever touched it, and set it off, gets their hands blasted with iodine, turning their hands a nice shade of purplrish brown. :D theres my story i trust that you guys are smart enough not to try this, but just to be sure, ill let you do the google search and find the recipe, then im not liable :P
