Paint?
What kinds of paint have you found works the best on PVC? I was going to get crazy and go with something like duracoat but if I can find an olive drab epoxy like alumihyde I will use that I just don't know how well it will turn out. What'd yall use (if you painted your cannons)?
Does it scratch off easily? I ask because my design has a breech loading "bolt" and there will be rubbing parts together. I know epoxy paint will hold up probably the best but don't know about Krylon, I know it scratches off metal pretty easily.

Any type of spray paint probably will scratch off moving parts...
Maybe considering using fuel dye dissolved in clear pipe cleaner to dye the parts that will be moving in contact with one another?

I've honestly just used primer grey in the past.
Gives it a nice "military test vehicle" look - and it's "held up" for about 4 or 5 years now. Sure it gets a little rough as it scrapes against harder material, but that just ads character to it IMHO
