.177 Rifled Barrels

Do any of you guys (in the US) have experience ordering parts from Crosman?

I heard that you can order replacement parts from them through the phone, and it does not seem to be too expensive: a forum post on an airgun site said that a 24-inch barrel was only $12 (don't know if that includes shipping) and the crosman custom airguns section lists the price of a 24 inch barrel as around $8.

I know I can use a 4.5mm ID pipe to make a smoothbore barrel, but if a rifled barrel is available for that little, I'd much rather get that.

I would like to get a 24 inch barrel in .177 and .22 caliber if available. What are some airguns that have such barrels so I can try to order the barrels as "replacement parts".

If you're located in the US, then you can indeed order directly from Crosman.

2260 has a 24" .22 cal barrel Prt # 2260-003

1760 has a 24" .177 cal barrel Prt # 1760-001

Parts manuals can be found here...

Potential issue: is your gun running enough pressure to successfully deform your projectile to fit the rifling? (I doubt the average n00b's does, depending)

Ramses has a good point and this is also why I decided against using one on my hammer valve. I believe spring-powered pellet guns generate over 1,000 psi in the chamber for a brief period of time. So I'd imagine that to get a respectable velocity with that barrel and its respective projectile you would need a good 500 psi or somewhere around there.

Until we see a steady series of gradually improving launchers from you, yes.

Disagree. The rifling on these barrels is extremely shallow, and pellets are made of relatively soft lead. Once the projectile "bites" into the rifling, you need a lot less effort to move it along.

If you can push a pellet into the barrel with your finger, then a 150 psi QEV launcher can do it too. Somebody prove me wrong :)

Can somebody buy me some of these barrels then ship to me? I'll pay for the barrel and shipping of course also some "tip" because they only sell to US and Canada, even they do sell to Europe I'll have to pay A LOT fee/taxes (they always mark it as merchandise instead of gift or personal mail...)

This pricing is essentially the difference between the stock barrel and the others...retail pricing on just a barrel will be different.
