Hard Foam
I was wondering if the foam that hardens is good for short range ammo, or will it be too light? What if I added a nail or something to it for weight? I plan on filling a 3 foot section of 3/4" PVC with foam and chopping the foam into small pieces once it hardens.

Well it would'nt exactly be machining it, basically just saw it into pieces. 6 bucks might be a little expensive though, there's probably a cheaper brand. You might be able to use it for a piston.

You could probably use a piece of PVC pipe as a mold. It would make a great sabot and if you wanted to use it as a projectile you could just put something in the mold with it and let it harden around it.
Just make sure you give it plenty of room to expand, that stuff has been known to rip apart door frames and walls.

Is your Google.com Broken?!
I was gonna leave both ends of the mold open, I might have to do small sections at a time depending on how fast it hardens.

Thats would be good for trying to get max velocity out of a gun, such as a hybrid really light but looses energy quickly just enough time to chrony it probably and make sure u use very little of it,that stuff fills up alot of space from a tiny squirt i remember my dad was making moulds for lamp shades and he half filled one and it like coverd out bench in the stuff and its quite hard on the outside and hard to rip off stuff.

I've tried making sabots with this stuff, and you have to leave at least one end open. Also, use a lot less than u think and do it in layers. We tried doing a 3" x 12" sabot all at once and it just pushes itself out of the pipe. Use WD-40 or something to coat the sides otherwise it'll stick, and it just ruins the pipe.
Thanks for all the advice, I might get some soon because I have to fill some holes in my grill to get rid off the wasps in it.

Haha, kinda off topic now, but our satelite wasn't getting any channels for the longest time, and when the guy finally came we had FOUR wasp nests inside the receiver!
