Bamboo???
I got a little bored today. I have bamboo growing in my backyard so i cut down one of the bigger pieces and started thinking about what to make. I realized that the sections of bamboo might make good and interesting air chambers. So i cut out one of the small sections which is naturally a closed cylinder. I then drilled a whole for a quick connect. I covered with a very strong container and a garbage can for safety, turned up the pressure from the air compresser and..
nothing. I took it up to 130psi and left it there for about 10 min. It held fine. I just thought it would be interesting to share. I might make use of this in a cannon in the futre.

Why is the word 'Eco-Terrorism' popping in my head?
Im generally not a huge fan of 'ghetto-ish' ideas, but a gun completly made of bamboo would be cool. Not to mention there hasnt been much 'intresting' conversation of late. Maybe cheat though and use a modded sprinkler valve with 'slip' fitting ports...
About the home-made piston. To aviod scaring the looks of bamboo, possibly you could sleeve the interior of the bamboo to house the pistons and projectiles so the seal would be rather smooth. What is the ID and OD roughly of the bamboo that is available to you?

Make a didgerie doo (how ever the hell you spell that), I love those things and would like to have one.
Hmmmm, mabey you could start making eco-barrels
, Grown to your own specifications
I don't think it will be a good idea to use the bamboo as a permanant air source because it will likely weaken. Mabey you can find some use for a one use spudgun, a few things come to mind.

I think its called an atalatle. Its a spear thing that cave men used. Use the small stocks of it in a 1/2 barrel. That would be awesome.
