how do you become a higher ranking ?

Yep. The more posts, the more spudbux and a higher ranking. Once you reach a certain number of posts, your rank goes up.

They do have to do with it. You get spud bux for posting, and you can get them in the casino. After each post it says how many spud bux you earned from that post.
