ive seen videos of "sodium chucking day" at my school a long time ago, so i want to chuck some sodium and watch it go boom

and that is way too expensive for what i want to do, but thanks :)

If you're trying to get sodium, this will take a really, really long time to get any decent amount.

Afterthought, store the sodium in kerosene or mineral oils.

wiki tells me $30 a gram, in 1997, so its prolly more now

also, its so reactive that it would most likely make a compound as soon as it was exposed to air and would go boom, and it can be used to make dirty bombs so i doubt someone would sell it to me w/o proper licensing

Edit: thats what i was planning to do paayian :wink:

The idea was to show you that it's quite dangerous to play with that stuff. The reaction with chlorine to make sodium chloride is even more vigorous than sodium's reaction with water.

lol, i read an article on that reaction, and that someone used that process to salt their popcorn better

I'm not suer that's the most effective or cost-efficient way of doing that. And I'm pretty sure it would damage something in the process.
