It's not clay, but what about plaster.they use it to cast gold,so why not steel or aluninum?

good luck with the lathe :D .that link really inspired me. I may try to make one myself,so I dont have to go to my grandpa's house to use his C.N.C or lathe

sorry if I sounded negative with my posts about the motor

This catalog is full of fun stuff I want like 3/4 of their books :D i just don't have the mony
I cant use plaster. I need clay it is more heat resistant than plaster and gold has a lower melting point than aluminum. you didn't sound negative about the motor.

grab the phone book and look for masonry supply places, almost every one will carry bentonite or fire clay some even have refractory cement already mixed, it all depends on the type of business they do

I did find out that kitty litter is bentonite clay but it needs to be turned into a powder so I am going to make a simple ball mill to turn the litter into powder :D
