The weight and safety you gain with a rollcage is neglegible with an engine that size. It'll still go. Rolling is truly not a problem. The weight of that engine will keep the tires on the ground, not necessarily gripping the ground, but touching. A 5 point harness would be a good investment in your case. You are going to have to add at least 200 lbs to the frame to make it safe That metal will fatigue and break on you if you don't.

The fact that you are even semi-seriously contemplating speeds in the 60 mph range, much less 135 mph in that contraption tells me you have no clue of the energies and thus dangers involved.

You could at least simulate a differential by putting a 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 chain gear ratio to the wheel....would certainly help with keeping your top speeds down. It looks like you have a roughly 1 to 1 ratio there now.

Maggotman, most things considered "ghetto" aren't really cool at all....this is one of them. This thing is a death trap. What's wrong with just throwing a 5hp Briggs and Stratton on there and living to tell about it??

Put some 35's on there and add an extra differential... along with a roll cage. its pretty sweet though. Even if you dont get the 4 wheel drive and 35's, spend 30 minutes to weld a roll cage on.

This vehicle has a 3hp engine and a 20mph top speed. Notice the 1/8" square carbon steel tubing. It had 3 kill switches and an onboard fire suppression system. These are engineering standards for SAE. You fall quite short.

im happy with it if i thought it would snap i would not drive it i would like some better breaks but my last cart dint even have breaks so its some improvement
the engine is a 750 but its an oldie so it onleay got about 90 hp most 600s have the same more more hp you can see in the pictures but the frame has alot of 6mm plate undneth i have had 4 pepole bounce on the frame and it onleay moved buy about 1 cm in the middle i need to sort out the fuel sistem becuse the carbs would be gravity feed normaly so i need a pump to put out about 5 10psi

it may on leay go at 20mph but is that thing held together with bird sh#?

i ant an expert welder but if i dont get a good joint i get out the grinder and put it right .

the onlay think i think need inprovement on my kart its the breaking sistem and it could do with a slightleay bigger pitch chain like 520

about the roll cage it is a stupid i dear im not saying it cant roll but have you seen how wide and low down the weght is on this thing if i go around a corner to fast it will just slide out or spin i have never seen a track gokart with a roll cage even the busa karts dont hav them ? any one watched the vids on youtube of track karts with bike engines ?

That looks to be a yamaha xj750 motor (maxim)... Shifter karts are old news, they don't need to be high tech to be functional, and they rarely flip, I personally see the engine getting torqued out of the frame before he goes fast enough to crash... If you try to be a little less ghetto, you'd be on the right track, ghetto for ghetto's sake is not always a good thing, u8nless your after the much coveted ghetto cannon award...

a vacuum operated lawnmower fuerl pump will fix your fuel supply issues... 1-1.5 psi is all that's needed when switching from gravity fed to uphill feed...

i dont think a vacume pump would work becuse as you might no the xj has a yics sistem with conects all the intake ports via a small pasageway in the head
