what do you think is better for a coil gun with a 9cm coil, 15-17layers of 22gage wire?

560uf x 280v OR 330uf x 385v?

Also I could use 3 capacitors but only of one of the types above.
If your getting chased off a police dog, try not to run through a tunnel then onto a small see-saw then through a ring of fire. They are trained for that!

hey. that is a good question. I recently have been designing a coil gun but I'm not sure whats more important: voltage, or capacitance.

I read on spud tech voltage is more important because its more power and its on for a shorter amount of time

Voltage is most important. High voltage means high amps, which means a stronger magnetic field.

Don't bother operating at below about 300 volts, and the more you can get the better.

More Voltage = stronger field
More capacitance = longer lasting field.

Don't overcook it on the capacitance, because if the field lasts too long then power is lost.

...I'm sorry, but that made my year.

But he does have a fairly long coil. I myself used 4 x 385V 3300uF and 2 x 450V 1500uF capacitors when I made mine.
