Ive been thinking about designing and hopefully making some type of air taser. Something like a stungun but more unique, such as using a jet of water to transfer the electricity from the taser. What i was really trying to get at though is the use of some kindof laser, im not too good with electronics but i know a little bit. I know that electricity travels through the path of least resistance, through the air. Is there a type of laser at a specific wave length that maybe reduces the resistance of the air it is traveling through. I also know that some toothbrushes charge up using a form of wireless energy transfer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_energy_transfer.
Thanks guys, and sorry if i made no sense haha.

I believe those wireless toothbrushes have to be within a few milimeters from the charger using magnets, would'nt really work with a taser. Even if you did lower the resistance, everything else would still havea higher resistance.

you best bet is firing conductive probes attached to wires into the target laser energy transfer just isn't all that efficient, unless your planing on burning you target in which case i can help you out with some co2 laser basics

I actually like this laser concept. I know that some lasers can ionize the air.
I believe ionization of air decreases it's resistance. You will need a moderately powered laser not a laser pointer. You may want to test this with a laser with a power greater than 100 mw and a Van De graaf generator.

the concept is pretty much a transformer cut into two. you need a strong AC power sorurce and a coil on the target (the priciple is the AC/alternating current charging the coil1 makes a alternating feild electromagnet, the change in the magnetic feild cause coil2 to reciver a charge due to the generator effect)

also laser are made of photon(spl) particles they are smaller than electrons so they wont conduct or affect condution at any frequency but if the a projectile has a specail solar pannel based device to recive energy from the laser it might work but it might work I still think its too complicated, and [/i]

If there was a way to place a large positive charge on a target (ionize it) then the massively negative charge from your taser-weapon would reach out and strike the positively charged area like a lightning bolt. There would need to be a huge charge in the taser to reach that far, however. I think it's about 30,000 volts/inch. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Wow, thats a cool idea, Does anyone know what type of laser ionizes air? I want to use ot for someting else.

They actualy have developed this in the military... As for the physics i have no idea how to do it. I get all my lazer stuff from Amazing1.com... you should check it out they have ALOT of stuff that is hard to find
