I had to make this for my senior project. I goes pretty good its made out of wood rope a fiberglass arm and a pvc screw cap as the basket here is a vid

I wanna see a video of this working. Whats it made out of? Details my good man, details. Looks really neet.

Ok, i like the simplicity however in the vid it seemed a little under powered.

Any idea on the draw weight? Oh and weight of projectiles?

well in the video the projectile was a snowball and it went 20 feet and hit a wall

That's pretty nifty. I too though would apreciate a larger model; something that can deliver a larger payload farther with more force. What I really want to know though is the effect upon the target. Any cool damage pics?

damage pictures aint gonna happen cause of it being hard to aim and i wanted to build it bigger but the fact it would take too long and i would lose intrest

That's a nice idea it looks like it uses a torsion bundle for the power. Those are called onager's. To get much better range add asling to the end of the throwing arm, like a trebuchet, it will greatly improve performance.

Here's my mini treb.

Knocked it together one day based on a single online photo. My WAG's at the various dimensions were way off, the main towers should have been twice as tall, the throwing arm longer etc. Throws nuts.

i did torch the wood and it uses rope wound up for torsion and i just got done building a mini scorpion bow thing

The wood was just something like 1/2"x3/4" trim wood, nice straight stuff comes planed smooth, from the hardware store. But, everything I used I had laying the garage already.

The wheels are just slices out of a big-ass dowel. The axles are standard dowels (1/4"?). The pins that hold the various axles in place are pieces of toothpicks. The weights are hunks of 3/8" allthread.

I've got a nice compound sliding miter saw so chopping the pieces was simple.

It is glued and finish nailed together (I have a small pneumatic finish nailer).

Slapped a quick coat of wood stain on it.
