I pick paitball... I beleive that it's more realsitic due to the higher speed of the rounds... and I just beleive its more fun

paint ball is more expensive, definitely. And paintballs travel at only 200-350 fps.

Yeah, the fps limit for most paintball games is 300. The limits at most airsoft fields are 400 for AEGs, 450-500 for sniper rifles, and so on.

But really, this is a dumb thread. No offense magnum, but all this does is ask for a flame war. And also it has nothing to do with building cannons/guns.

thats why its in the bb/pellet section

HAve you been talking to mr crowley?

Well, I do admit airsoft is faster... but the amount of energy that a paintball has when it hits far surpases the amount of energy that an airsoft bb would have.

Also, please find a reason that this thread should be kept. I believe that it is as previously stated... a waste of space.

"This area is for the discussion of BB or airsoft sub machine guns, and or other small arms such as pellets."

So it does not dictate what the discussion of airsoft, bbs, or pellets is about so, this discussion is valid.

everyone is saying airsoft is cheaper but this pretty much proves otherwise...i have a spyder that was only 130...you may laugh at me and say its a piece...but it is a very nice gun...and i can crank that to 300+...it would cost you a decent amount of money to purchase airsoft guns that are even worth taking on a field...you could get a gun that shoots well over 300 for cheap...but it would be plastic...if you look at that aspect...you get more for your money in paintball in terms of build stability...because the metal ones arent cheap...well if you buy them retail anyway...also...airsoft bb's take wind much easier than a paintball would since the paintball has more mass...well those are my opinions anyway

Pro and Cons:

Paintball:
+even the cheaper guns are metal
+much easer to tell if somebody is hit
-paintballs ain’t cheap
-gas ain’t cheap

Airsoft:
+cheap ammo
+usually doesn’t require gas
-good guns cost $120+
-hard to tell if you’re hit.

As far as accuracy:
Paintballs are heaver and therefore offer grater range, but are large diameter and not perfect spheres so the wind has quite a bit of area to play with

Airsoft BBs are light, so require a high velocity to reach put and touch someone, but they are also susceptible to wind, unless using those .48g BBs…

Realism:
Neither wins:
The M16/M4 is 5.56, the AK-47 is 7.62, and the M9 is a 9mm, there is no weapon that is 6mm and the only .68cal weapons were muskets.
Most guns have an effective range of at least 200yards, not ~50.
Guns go “boom” (actually it’s closer to high pitched “tow” for M16s, a deep “ch-kow” for AKs, and high “pa-cow” for 9mm's…), not “pak” or that annoying grinding of gears that emanate from AEGs

If you want realism join the Marines.

Uhmm..it wouldn't be that hard to find an airsoft gun thats below 75 bucks that you can take onto the field.

You can build one that goes around 500-600 for less than 50 T_T.

I haven't had much problem with the wind taking my bb's... My gun was 120 bucks and puts out 320fps, and has metal workings. (Gas blowback) Metal slide/bolt/mag. And, it is fully auto with 1000rpm if I switch it over. Accuracy is quite decent, I can hit targets 100ft away. (A tree for instance) If you have a hopup then wind usually isn't that much of a problem. Especially if you have good ammo. It is my primary currently, but it want it to become a secondary, as all M11's should. Where I play there is no rules on fps. Anything goes. Nobody will force you to not use a gun even if it has 600+fps. Nobody.

I find paintball to be much better it is way more realastic to me. In airsoft for some reasson the amount of bbs the guns can hold i so huge, and when you get in a firefight you can pretty much raindown hundreds bbs on people. no where near what a real Ak or M4 would fire. In paintball you usually have to be a little more conserveative with your ammo(even though most hoppers are 200 rounds.) The larger caliber also make me like paintball more.
Judge I dont see why you say gas aint cheap. Yea C02 is a little expensive. But at my field it only costs $1 to fill up youre HPA tank.

it costs me 2 dollars to fill a 16oz tank and 4 to fill a 24oz tank where i play

ammosmoke - youve even proved in your own statement that paintball is cheaper...youve got a nice gun for about the same price as my paintball marker...which is also nice...but you said primary weapon and secondary weapon...most people playing airsoft would have a primary, a secondary, and a pistol atleast...how much do you think that would cost? because in paintball you need one gun...
