I'm sorry, but in my humble opinion, if you can't figure it out on your own, you probably shouldn't be building one.

If you insist on doing it...

A) it's against forum rules to discuss it here, so go elsewhere. BCpneumatics (google it) has some info on flamethrowers.
B) pressurize your tank with a neutral gas other than air, to prevent possible fires inside the chamber. Propane works (if there's more than 9% or so propane, there's not enough oxygen to support combustion, and thus no fire can occur inside the chamber)
C) use a backflash or checkvalve to make sure no back pressure could go up the pipe.
D) think about where you'll actually be able to use this thing. I was going to build one, but then I realized I'd have almost no good places to play with it.

how come the old WW2 flamethrowers shoot a liquid?if you watch a video of one you can see it shoot liquid just before it catches on fire.i understand most of the ones today use gas.how come know ones tried liquid before?

The onse of today still use liquid, forced out by compressed gas.

OK, mods, tell me if it's aginst the forum rules for me to post plans on this or not.

I drew up plans for a small flamethrower (including multiple safties) but never built it because I don't really have a place to use it. It'd be fun, but you need a lot of open area to mess around with one.

The design I drew up uses denatured alcohol for fuel, pressurized by propane, with a checkvalve and a blackflash valve to further prevent fuel tank fires, with a ball valve for the trigger (and another ball valve for a fuel shutoff) and a length of half inch brass with a hose barb for the "barrel". If it's not aginst the rules I'll post the design. Let me know.

Yes I hate to the Netherlands really you can really entirely nothing in that country I will live later in the U.S.A

its not that hard, go to about.com and search for flamethrower, itll show you this little animation on how it works and you can base you design off of it. seriosly though, dont try it. the amount of danger you put yourself in doesnt out way the fun of burning stuff. mine is built exactly like a wwII ones with all sorts of fallsafes, and im still somewhat scared when i use it.

Tip: pneumatics are legal to own, and transport in Holland.
They forgot to add rules about maximum velocity, range, power and even caliber.

The only restriction is, they are not allowed to look like an existing firearm!

Taking it out in public is also illegal, transporting it in a car ( properly, like in the trunk) however is allowed!
