me and some of my friends are doing a jackass type film, and i am looking for some information. i have done several stunts, one of them was riding a scooter down a rocky hill, and holding ladyfinger firecrackers in my hand. my next stunt is going to involve a 35 degree bike jump and a hill that will accelerate my bike to 30mph. i was looking for some information on how high-far i will go, and also any ideas for future stunts would be appreciated.

Also, i dont want to hear crap about how doing stunts is dangerous because i know that and i am taking saftey percautions such as waaring my football pads and a football helmet, or in the case of the firecrackers, eye protection

For your horizontal distance you use this equation.
Equations do not take air resistance into account.
30MPH = 13.4 m/s.
1m = 3.28 feet.

30cos35 X Time

Vertical Distance

(30sin35)Time -5 Time Squared.

The maximum height you should get is 2.954 Meters above the top of the ramp after 0.77 seconds.

The maximum distance you should get is 16.8 Meters if the top of the ramp is at ground level. If the ramp is'nt at ground level figure out in the 2nd equation when you reach ground level, then take that time an plug it into the 1st one.

I'm in Advanced Placement Physics and this is pretty much all we do in class.

Hope that helps, if you change your speed or angle just change the numbers in the equation. The numbers I wrote in the equation are the MPH and Angle of Ramp, I did the math in m/s though, metric is so much better.

P.S. Don't jump any canyons, I am not liable for you pulling a Wile E. Coyote.

well if your asking for jackass style stunts on a spud gun forum im sure you have done alot of spud gun stunts but anyway i have made a simmilar video with a few friends and the funniest stunt we did was one day we hid behind my garage and called my friend to come over so as he was riding his bike past the garage we fired a tennis ball at him at a very low psi ...anyway he flew off his bike into some garbage cans ...maybe through that in between stunts on ur film

Wear a cup... landing on a bike like that might hurt, and you want to protect your future children, right? ;)

The longer the ramp, the longer the jump. The higher the ramp, the higher the jump. Thats the rule of thumb i allways used when i used to do bike jumps. My longest jump was 147 feet. Used a old barn board plank 10 feet long, 3 feet high, at about 40 mph. The yard i jumped had a steady grade down hill, i was no more then 5 feet off the ground at any time. The landing sucked for me, layed the bike over and slide the rest of the way down the hill into the stream, at least the day was hot and the water cool! All my friends enjoyed the show, i only did it once! He didn't figure weight into his equation?? Unless i missed something.

I don't think you need to figure weight in, unless I forgot something. We never figure in weight in class.

The only effect weight would have would be how badly the rider is effected by air resistance.

well if i already know how fast i will be going down the hill because i already clockedit with a radr ugn(srry for the messy type im comin off a all nighter) if i will really end up almost 3 meters off the ground thats awesome. i will wear my cup, and subterranian, i have not done any spudgun stunts liek shooting temmis balls at people. i like to preserve the reputation of spudding, not destroy it because some 12 year old got shot off hid bike and scraped his knee
