These are my pencil crossbow inventions I made in my spare time their not made to be super powerful their just fun easy to make gizmos I just wanted to share them with the forum

This is my first wooden pencil crossbow it’s nice and reliable and the string is made from braided rubber bands, it has no trigger so its more of a bow with a shaft. i made it in my tech ed class since I had some spare time

rude cardboard multi chamber pencil shooter there are 4 chambers with 4 pins that make each chamber go off and 4 shots it even attaches to you wrist it takes awhile to reload each chamber again that’s why I haven’t used it in a while and it got a little squished

This one is pretty simple and powerful and uses a pin fire trigger I used a drill press and a band saw. Once I shot myself in the leg with a really sharp pencil to test the power it when though my jeans and into my leg and stuck their, I shot it inches away from my leg and it only went in like a few millimeters like when you get pricked by a needle. I got pretty freaked out at first

This is a marvel based on an ancient Chinese design CHU-KO-NU so I guess I’m connecting to my Chinese roots ( :x I’m half Chinese but I look white) it’s a master piece of craft and an actual REPEATING CROSSBOW

Image

Similar to my multi chamber only more like crossbows It has single long pin going though all the chambers and hold the rubber bands back so as the pin is slowly pulled the chambers go off shooting pencils like a machine gun I will make more sets for a bursts of rapid fire pencils

Another thing I made is a flexible pencil bow made from plastic knives you can hide it in your pocket you can make them if you’re bored or out of cash for spud guns. or have nothing to do in a cafeteria and have some string

sorry about the last pics (for the rapid fire one) its hard to get all the pics the first time

Love the CHU-KO-NU good job.

Thanks, it’s not as reliable as I wished, but I know where you can find some larger scale plans on it if you would like, and it’s not cut from a single block unlike mine

I have aways been amazed by them, and if you want go ahead and post the plans I wont complain :D . I have done much study on them but have yet to get reliable plans.
http://www.arco-iris.com/George/chu-ko-nu.htm this link has simple plans and some intesting facts on them.

nice i like the idea of bolt racks, a trigger and/or crank would help just to boost up the force :o only other thing i think it could improve on is the materials but like you said you made it for fun nt submitting to backyard ballistics gj

i made a chinese repeating cross bow for a school project once but it wasnt quiet as ghetto as yours, it was full sized to, i was thinking about making a polybus, but i cant quiet figure out the firing mechanism from the crappy diagrams i have. i havent done much work on it lately but i think im going to finish over winter vacation (yay one week left)
