Boosting pellet rifle performance
Hey everybody! i've came up with something interesting this afternoon, i was playing with my air-rifle, when i has a sudden idea...I put one drop (really tiny drop) of zippo fuel behing the pellet just before closing the barrel. When i shot......well, the zippo fuel had vaporised and was a gaz, mixed with the internal air, with the diesel effet, a very loud bang occured, a small flame, and a pretty hard kick for an air rifle. The pellet went through 3cm of wood. I think i just made my air-rifle a rifle-like hybrid.
When looking at the physic behinf this phenomenon, i used the P.V= n.R.T
the pressure increases, the volume dicreases, and the temperature increases very quick, so, the air/fuel mix auto-ignited. I cheack the piston, it has not sign of stress; compared to dieseling with oil.
I also made a small test with potassium benzoate, but this is against the rules. (whistling mixture for small rocket-fireworks.)
So if you guys wana try it, i suggest a low powered piston air rifle, one tiny drop of zippo fuel behind the pellet, close the barrel, wait a few second for the fuel to vaporise, and shoot.

The ignition of lubricant vapours is a significant contributor to the power of a spring piston air rifle, but to encourage this effect simply increases the wear and tear and very quickly knacker your piston seal. Ok if you have some $5 chinese rifle I suppose, personally i wouldn't dream of doing that to my beloved Weihrauch

Don't expect detonation in an airsoft pistol, I doubt the spring in one of those has enough clout to produce dieseling. With one of these little things it should work wonderfully, you can try using a drop of actual diesel or 3-in-1 lubricating oil.

so this is a method to increase the power of a pellet gun....... hmm sounds cool
in the upcoming presidential election, there will be several candidates who will be running, one of whom is Hillary Clinton. Now WAIT A SECOND!!! I though there was some sort of rule that prevented someone from serving more than two terms in office. Vote Against Hillary: Presidential Elections 08

Odd, works for me.
anyway, not worth the hassle of building your own, just buy something cheap like one of these and when it falls apart from the strain, buy another one

I was gonna suggest a drop of pure ether untill I read the 400m/s thing...

You could try adding a bust-disc to the system, who knows the pressure generated by the detonation might even drive the piston back far enough to recock itself

An air driven piston would work.
