have you tried the JCS F-69 foam rocket?
i bought a few for testing, and they fit perfect in sch40 pvc. seem to fly straighter than the nerfs, but then again, i don't have sch 80 for a nerf barrel yet.
i'll check out the FE options - thannks for the specifics

damn, this gun is so over my head lol
take a look at this PDF.
look at the bottom right of the 2nd page of that PDF (the image is #'d page 193 of the Humphrey catalog), there is a good diagram of how a QEV works.
for the main valve of my launcher, i use a 3/4" QEV from McMaster.com (part # 6646K23). it costs only $21. it's made by Deltrol - mdl# EV35A2. i've taken mine apart and the guts look just like the diagram i showed ya.
to trigger that one, i just use a smaller 1/4" QEV (McMaster part #6646K34). just $12. it's a Deltrol EV20A2. the smaller QEV allows the main QEV to vent (fire) faster than if i used a blowgun. the thing works so well that i can trigger it with a standard 1/4" 125psi blowoff valve (by pulling it open by the ring). this might help me in hooking the firing mechanism to a gripframe & trigger instead of the blowgun on my prototype.
by the way, in looking up that PDF, i came across this great article discussing Paintball Laws at Warpig.com.
one thing i noticed right off the bat is that some of the pricing listed for the parts discussed are just about (sometimes more) than i paid retail for both the QEVs. ...i'm going to read the whole thing later on to compare the performance of mine vs theirs (esp. with regard to chamber size/pressure).
happy reading (if you're up for it )

its a good product but try the paint round for the tippmann m203. its much better and can easily be made at home. sorry i don't have a link.
People that bash noobs can suck me!!!
here's a sketch of the final design. shouldn't change much from this (just placed the parts order last night):
may i present the wHUMPgUN!:
(not shown: break-barrel pivot, co2 supply, secondary QEV, trigger, safety)
the chamber (orange parts) will be 1-1/4" Type M copper. GGDT-designed to launch F-69's at 160 fps w/ 90psi pressure. overall length ~34 in.
i'll start a new Showcase thread with real pics when it's done (maybe by this wkend)...
