I have one of those big ring pools that is no good. I was thinking of taking the pump and making some kind of compressor. It says it pumps 780 gallons of water per hour. Im wondering if this would be efficient as some kind of compressor. Maybe just to pump my cannons even. There is a small black part that removes from the bottom that is the actual pump. Also i would have to go get it to see for myself and its a bit late, but i was wondering if i will even output air? I would think so but im not sure.

As much as i hate to agree with dudeman, that pump is built for moving water, and by no means withstand pressure. Sorry, but you're outta luck.

Yulp, i realised that. I jsut went out and got it. It more or less cycles water. Its not even a pump. Its pretty much plastic with a fan inside. The water is fed through the top by gravity and blown out the side by the fan.

It's called a centrifugal pump http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrifugal_pump
It is a very common type of pump. A good one can create decent pressure with liquids, but not much at all with air.

Yea there wasnt really any air coming out of the exhaust. A little less than one of those small AA fans you get at like walmart.

Due to the low density of a gas compared to liquids, centrifugal pumps do not work properly with air.
