Anyone tried to replicate the Tippmann a5 gas mechanism?

The main part I'm interested in is the "tombstone" and the valve that the gas enters into after exiting the tombstone - is that valve the same as a QEV that everyone talks about? This valve only has 1 input and 1 output, while I thought a QEV was 3-way.

The "tombstone" is simply the air connection between the hose and the main body. The valve is a standard hammer valve, knocked open by the bolt.

Note that the valve block has grooves along the side:

This allows the air from the valve to both go down the barrel and propel the paintball while also recocking the bolt.
