breachloader opinions

I am designing my first launcher primarily for scenario paintball games for launching 2" foam rockets. I want to build a breach loader, but cant decide weather to use banjo couplings or a repair fitting to make a pass through. I cant find much info on the pass through, I came across one on the internet but cant find it again. I need opinions and info.
Can sch80 be used with the 2" rockets?
I plan on building the whole thing with sch80 for safety reasons, and use a 1" sprinkler valve. It will run on regulated co2 or hpa from one of my tanks.
I am an experienced paintball airsmith and most of the hardware will be scrounged off my old guns.
any advice or suggestions would be welcome.

sch80 is a pressure rating and has no real limitation on size, so yes.
for launching foam rockets your setup don't have to be super fancy, so you could take the time to go with a bolt action or just use a cam lock.

You clearly have o idea what you are talking about, and I wouldn't be surprised if you used DWV, because if Sch 80 is a pressure rating, then Sch 40 is too, right?
You may be able to fit a nerf pocket football rocket thing into 2" Sch 80, but I'm really not sure. I don't think so, because of how tight the fit is in 2" Sch 40.

do you mean those foam rockets on bcarms? those could probably squish to fit sch 80 2"
nvm, those foam projectiles are only 1".
Another thing you could do is just cut one of those footballs down to size...

sch means schedule and refers to the wall thickness and not the pressure rating. For pressure rating it needs to say something like NSF-PW and NOT NSF-DWV and have somewhere saying its rating such as PN 12 referring to a rating of 12 bars or maybe 200psi referring to a rating of 200psi

Mr.Goat made good use of this option. Maybe you could model him. Another option is the
BECC.
I'm pretty sure that the rockets will fit into sch 80, since it can be squeezed into the 1.5" sch 40.
Another option would be to use the sch 80 for the tank and a sch 40 barrel.

erm.. thicker wall -higher pressure capacity
besides dwv is pretty durable form what iv'e found. I know your going to throw some criticism my way for even saying it takes over 100psi, and for launching foam stuff I'm not worried.
and yes, i think they would fit, but would just be kind of tight.

You could be launching pieces of paper. It doesnt matter what you're launching. The chamber can only hold so much pressure no matter what. Pressure rated pipe DOESNT cost THAT much more than DWV. Consider buying pressure rated pipe as an investment for medical bills that you won't have to pay because of physical injury, or worse! Why NOT spend an extra $1 for your safety?

It's not generally a good idea to be anywhere near a piece of unrated PVC pipe with 100 psi air in it. Although SCH 80 is almost always pressure rated, the Schedule is not a pressure rating. It could be SCH 80 ABS (woohoo!!), SCH 80 PVC, SCH 80 steel, or SCH 80 papier mache.
The problem with DWV pipe is that it has little quality control, due to its intended use for NON-PRESSURIZED systems, or systems with very low pressure. The only kind of DWV pipe that is safe to use for pressure is DWV copper, because it is actually pressure rated for a few hundred psi.

The 2" nerf rockets fit perfect in 2" sch 40 pvc barrells... There is no need for you to have a sch 80 barrell on this launcher and the nerf rockets will be too tight a fit for your application anyway.....If you feel safer having a sch 80 air chamber then feel free to make it this way but you will be fine with sch 40 pvc since you will not need more than 90psi to send the rocket 100 + yrds....Just make sure you use pressure rated pvc pipe and fittings and not DWV. I own a paintball field and have seen all kinds of launchers and cannons and have made several myself.

You really don't nead to make the whole thing out of sch 8O. Sch 40 will hold the pressure just fine. As for the breech loader, the simplest way to go about it would be a sliding barrel attached to the valve's output by a non-glued coupler. You just slide the barrel forward and put the football in.

I plan on using the sch80 for everything but the barrel. I am drawing up a turn bolt with slots cut in the breach and lugs in the receiver (where the air dumps in. Kind of like the one in the pneumatics gallery.
I have most of my hardware, just need to go get the pipe.
Has anyone wrapped their tank in aluminum screen, in case of failure?
I'm trying to make this contraption as "safe" as possible, my kids will no doubt be using this too.
Anyone got an extra 2" rifled barrel?

for what your doing I wouldn't have a significant fear of failure, you should just buy a safety pop out if your that concerned.
