Any good tutorials for making a piston or supah valve

I'm making my first pneumatic spud gun (made many combustions before), and I want to do it right the first time. What I want to use is a piston or supah valve system, about 3 inches big (inside diamater). The combustion chamber is going to be 4" and I plan to have interchangeable barrels up to 3 inches big, so I figure a 3 inch inside diamater would be great. I'm probably going to make it be a supah valve thats activated by a sprinkler valve. (like the one that sells on spudtech for $130.
The problem is I cannot find a good tutorial or plans to build a good supah valve. Hours of searching has only led me to find failed attempts by other people and successful ones that are poorly documented. Can someone point me in the right direction?
I see that there are pictures of the actual supah valve on the web, although it looks like the parts are machined with a lathe, and there are no instructions or materials list, I'm hoping there is a way to do it without a lathe, using common materials at the hardware store.

There are several, several good piston valve how-tos here. In the wiki, there is a supah valve disassembled.
Note on the supah valve; the man who built it knew exactly what he was doing and used tools and materials that you probably don't have.

Just as hubb said, there are many that you could find. Dont look up supah vavle because the only person who makes then in BC Pneumatics and i dont think that he is giving plans out anytime soon. Pistons are failry easy to make, i made one out of hot glue and a inner tube for the sealing face. Look in the how to section again. Also, use the search and you will find golden info maybe not on the topic, but on the posts people leave. That is how i got my info. So just look a little more. Use the advanced search and you may get the results you want. i failed twice before making a succesfull piston myself and i have only madew 1 so far. so you just need to look unti you can find. Its 1:35 AM here and i got hw to finish so i cant help now. But you will find info if you just look better. But its still good to ask questions.

you can do it without a lathe. all my valves have been made without a lathe. mold a piston out of epoxy or hot glue sticks. it works very well.
all you need is a
(1) a tee to put it in.
(2) a bushing
(3) pipe for the outlet
(4) female adaptor
(5) male plug
(6) exhaust of some sort (Ball valve, QEV, sprinkler valve ect.)
(7) and lets not forget the piston
and you have yourself a piston valve
take a look at my piston cannon. its incredible simple and uses a 3/4'' end cap wrapped in tape as a piston.

ps- one thing that helped me imagine how a piston valve worked is to think of it like you are building a coaxial cannon into a tee. that really is what wou are doing, you are building a coaxial into a tee. so my advise is look at coaxials first, understand them, then look at piston valves, you will notice they are the same.

did you say combustion chamber was going to be 4' ? is this going to be a pneumatic or not ?

Since its your first, make sure the parts you select say NSF-pw, not NSF-dwv. PW (Potable Water) means that they can withstand pressure, and DWV (drain/waste/vent) means they're for gravity flow. So I'd suggest looking at a few places first to make sure they carry the parts you need so you can do it right and not hurt anyone.

This may help.......if you know how they work then they are a lot easier to make (right)
