BB/Marble Rifle Design

Hello fellow spudders!
I am really eager to make myself a marble rifle. I have made plans and have all the supplies to make it.

My question is:
Will I be using it's power to its full potential using this design?

With that being said, here are the facts about my design:
It's going to have a piston valve assembly
It's going to have a homemade stock (which so far looks awesome!)
It's going to mimic the appearance of a real Rifle (the most it can be)
Already have the marble barrel made...its a perfect fit!

P.S. - All internals that over-lap the stock in the pic will be hidden inside the stock...

i say scrap the hose, replace it with brakeline, maybe hide the blowgun in the stock or replace it with a ball valve with a trigger handle ( see mitchza89s third boomstick)
will help with aesthetics.

well...i have a different style blowgun that will look awesome on it, i just made that one (basic design) so you guys knew what the hell I was talking about lol.

if you use quick disconects, rather than schraeder valves, then you can just stick the female side on the gun and leave out the ball valve. come to thing of it, you dont need that ball valve at all, schraeders dont let any back flow.

You will probably become the envy of everyone on spudfiles if you can pull this off(including me 8) . How big of a chamber do you expect to fit in there? A psi guess?

I was thinking using the female instead of the male "nipple" (not schreader), but when you disconnect it from the compressor hose, it gives off maybe 4-6 psi, so I was just thinking as accurately as possible but I will probably end up doing that, and using the female Quick connect rather than the male nipple.

Ha Ha Ha, let me correct you...."when you pull this off." lol

what do you mean "how big of a chamber do you expect to fit in there?"
what is "there"? Anyway, I plan on taking it to the highest psi i can with my 120psi air compressor (psst....that means 120psi).


Oh! and ilovetoblowthingsup, I took a pic of the blowgun I plan to use. The red line is where I plan to cut it to optimize space.

You did say that all internals that overlap the stock will be hidden inside, and if im correct thats your chamber there under the barrel. :wink:

Oh yeah. yes, it will also be hidden inside the stock handle, in my drawing the stock isn't quite low enough to completely cover the bottom, but the real stock will cover it, and will only have about an inch of the end sticking out.

I don't recomend using female quick connect fittings... they loose as lot of air when diconecting esspecialy at higher pressures

Looks good so far. I had my own efforts doing this and i have not got around to nearly finishing it. I say scrap the air tank on there and base the chamber on 1/2" copper pipe. be much easier to fit the stock into the design. Heres was my design...

very nice design ford. I'm starting to lean towards the 1/2" copper pipe chamber instead of the tank..... it would be easier to fit in the stock.

Thanks. Hope to see you finish it. You should make a high pressure pump to make up for the smaller chamber too :)

You should have the fill behind the piston since it will tend to seal more reliably.
You could very easily build a high pressure pump into the stock and pump the gun vertically up and down like an old style "Bate(?)" air rifle.

i say go with 1/2" copper for chamber... then a high pressure pump or CO2- speaking of which can copper hold 800 PSI?
