problems with sprinkler valve threads, from BCARMS.
Hi all.
I just bought a sprinkler valve from BCARMS.com And when i tried to assemble it with the other parts that i have bought, it simply doesn't fit!
Heres the reason, i think. I live in sweden, and we have two couple of thread-systems.
one metric, and one base on inches. I thought that the inch's-system would be the same as USA's thread-system, wich i was proved wrong, in a very disappointing way!!!
So, what am I to do?
I have two swedish-1" (R25) pipe-connectors that i want to put inside the sprinkler valve 1"-female NPT(?).
am I bound to drill the threads out, and use epoxy? that would suck .
help!

I would try and get some American threads online or something. If you don't want to do that, then just try to put some epoxy on the pipe and put that in there. Then make sure its all tight. I wouldn't bore out the threads, they'd help with the epoxy holding it in there.
well, the thing is that i cant really screw it in there, the fit is to tight.
I can put in in perhapse; 1 ½ turns, then it begins to point in funny directions...
I think that my 1" male connector is 1mm bigger than the NPT female-USA fitting, or something like that.
So I do belive that i have to take som material out.
anyone have had the same problem?

Here's my suggestion; try and find sprinkler valves with solvent connectors. That's what I do so I don't have to spent extra money on threaded adapters.
Completed projects:
CA1 SMSS Basic Inline
CA3 PDAB Airburst Cannon
Current Project: Bolt action rifle (25x140mm + 1in shot)

Make a piston. Then use the sprinkler as a pilot, that way you only have to get one pipe to fit
First thing I would ask before getting something from the US sent over here is, how would I make this work with my metric pipe?
I believe epoxy is your easiest way to go, you could also try to find some threaded stuff that does fit and fit that onto your pipe someway.

I had this same problem with my first sprinkler valve. Are you trying to screw in a brass fitting by any chance?Or a metal fitting of some sort?If you are try sanding down the threads a little and get the fitting and put it in a vice push down on the valve and twist to thread it together, mine was hard for about the first few threads but then got easyer.MAKE sure you get it in straight Once it has been threaded in once it gets easyer to screw in and out.

I agree with psycix it's good to check everything before ordering stuff... and then check it again... I am sure you can fix it by doing what people have suggested here... good luck
ohh one more thing - I don't have anything agains BCarms but it is generally better to order stuff from you country or at least europe.
Some parts are cheaper in the usa but generally shipping will cost you a lot. If you have problems with buying something locally (like sprinkler vavles) remember that there are different things that can do the same job...
for example you can use a 3/4"QEV intead of 1" sprinkler valve - they will give you roughly the same results but QEVs are much cheaper than sprinkler valves.

That sounds really nice. May I ask you for a online store that sells QEV-valve? (in europe)
