This is a rifle I made. Basic concept, quite self explaining. But I assure you, this ones fun to shoot with.

Features:
Barrel: 1m, 10mm copper pipe, with a hard steel + alu cover.
chamber: 5dl (500 cc) copper.
valve: 1" modified sprinkler valve.
Loading: Forward-breech.
Scope: 30mm red dot sight.
Ammo: 10mm Hardened Steel balls

I usually fire with about ~11bars of pressure (160Psi).

Before you comment:
-Yes I could/should make me a new bolt-handle
-Yes, it´s unpainted and thats just fine with me
-I know there´s no damage pictures; be patient.

it looks like it was milled, possibly a 3/8 endmill and very nice gun

verry nice. you're stock is the air chamber right?

Props:
- I'm digging the asthetics
- Liking the breech (so clean) and the fact that you actually use a bolt for the bolt action
- The scope is A+
- The stock, yessir

Slops:
- The sprinkler valve (ironic for me to say). Have you considered another valve that can hold more pressure, maybe for a future upgrade?

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with everything Hubb just said...
I think the gun is fine as it is... Sure a piston would have better performance, but I think you should try the piston on your next gun. Because I don't want you to mess this one up (not that you would on purpose...).

nicce... how did you attach the scope??

JSR: I haven't made a full scale long range accuracy test yet, but I will report back as soon as it´s done.

Poland: I´ve added a picture; showing the custom steel-bar which is supporting the uni-rail on which the scope is mounted. I´ve grinded/sanded the contact-areas, making the fixture firm and nice.

the stock is the air chamber, making it double-useful.

I have of course somewhere along the way chosen the sprinkler valve as valve type. In this case I found it to be a good balance between price, specs and simplicity (in a building aspect).

Coaxial valves might occur in future constructions yes. But as it is today, 11bar is quite enough... at least when you´re using such a long barrel as i am.

you might consider buying a QEV valve for more power... that chunk of PVC just doesn't fit there

ohh and I strongly suggest building a fridge compressor.... this gun is begging for 30 bars

you won't get good enough performance in this caliber without upping the pressure..

if you want long range shots you need that... the scope looks so good as well as the whole gun but without high pressures light ammo will slow down very fast (and becasue of that the drop will be insane) and heavier ammo will be so slow that the bullet drop would also be insane

Oh, I appreciate your thoughts even though I have to say;
If I add a QEV, it would radically change the guns design due to the QEV-ports layout, which is more likely to happen in some other project than this one.

I wait to see the long range test before I'll say anything about the projectile of my choice. My hopes and believes is that 10mm @ 1m barrel @ 11bars is quite enough. At short range it´s superbly strong anyhow.

with one 90 deg turn between the valve and the barrel you'll end up with chamber as a stock and the pilot port at the bottom... so it would have to change at all

I know I am a little crazy about this but you might consider malleable iron threaded fittings as they offer great 'moddability' to your guns

also it makes spuddign cheaper in the long run because you can scap every part for your future projects


I GGDTed your gun - it seems that contrary to my previous post you don't have to worry about its long range performance...

sorry about that - I simply looked at the pics, skimmed the description fast and I didn't notice that there is a sleeved barrel... which made me think that the gun is much smaller than it really is and that there might be some performance issues... again sorry about that - my bad

the projectile is a 9.65mm ball bearing (3.5 gram IIRC)... seems like it would be quite a good round for this caliber - offering both good velocity and enough sectional density to allow some really long range shots

at 400 psi you could get 217,4m/s with the chamber volume of 100cc think about it
