Hi,

I'd like to show you guys a simple little project I made to amuse myself and co-workers during some overtime last month.

It's a simple pneumatic glowstick launcher, but of course it will shoot anything in 3/4" steel pipe (I like to use lolipops as well).

Specifications
1" x 12" air chamber
3/4" x 2' barrel
1" sprinkler valve (main valve), actuated by a 1/4" ball valve

It works splendidly. I would like to polish up the inside of the barrel whenever I get the time, as it is a bit rough.

Great cannon, i love full metal cannons. It could use a few minor improvements though, I would go with a QEV or a metal SV that way you could take it to higher pressures, and two: i would switch out that steel barrel with a PVC or copper one, because most steel pipe has a seam, and that would not be the best material. If that BV is bothering you, a blowgun for exhaust would work great as well.

Looks good. I like the metal too. Any damage shots? Maybe an exploded glow stick?

Definitely go with a PVC or copper barrel.

Copper would look very nice, but PVC is way cheaper... and would put alot less stress on the valve than the current steel barrel.

Also, with PVC or copper, you would not have to sand the barrel smooth.

PVC barrel should cost you about, 1 dollar.

I know it was already suggested but you should really buy a 3/4" QEV or even 1/2" QEV... First of all, it would be all metal then
and secondly you could use higher pressures (=MOAR POWAH)

you could also use a metal spinkler valve but they are quite expensive so I guess you'd be better of with QEV...

Copper is still metal , but i'm saying go pvc if you can't Afford/get copper

Well, like I said, I plan to polish the inside of the steel barrel to remove the seam (similar to the method Technician uses on his QDV's).

Copper is a definite option, but I have other projects I'd like to start working on.

I like it. Very simple, very effective design. Nicely done, Wet one. You could probably take that thing up to 200 P.S.I. easy.

The sprinkler is certainly the limiting factor here.
If you would just build a piston valve... then you would have a cannon.
