how and where to install the shrader valve

I was just wondering where and how you put the shrader valves into the chamber (yes I want to put it in the chamber and not from behind the piston). I am asking this because I have heard fleeting comments from people say if they could do it over they would... do such and such.

I have heard that you are supposed to put the cap on, then put the valve through the cap AND the pipe and thread it (which I need some help with) but would it be ok to put it on the end of the cap, or just into the pipe???

Install the schrader into a fitting such as a coupler or cap... the least amout of holes in your chamber the better... safety issues and leakage.

but can i put it on the very end of a cap or does it need to go throught the cap and chamber

also how do you thread it like what width smaller does the hole have to be and stuff

its best to put it in a place where there are two layers of PVC, such as where a fitting overlaps the pipe. if the schrader valve has 1/8" NPT threads you need a 1/8" NPT tap and a 5/16" drill bit. if it has 1/4" NPT threads you need a 1/4" NPT tap and a 7/16" drill bit. drill the hole and thread it in slowly, backing the tap out every now and again to clean PVC shavings off of the flutes. dont run the tap all the way through, just tap deep enough to the tip of the tap is visible if you look inside the pipe.

no, they dont work in a drill press, you tap a hole by hand, usually a wrench will fit over the square end of the tap. it needs to be NPT, the NC or NF versions will not work

Burntlatke shows you on their site. A 1/2" socket wrench will fit over the end of a tap, but they sell tap wrenches that will work up to that size to I believe.

Here you go.

cant you just tap the pipe with your fitting? (tap it in to start and use lots of downward force when turning)

I have some taps, but wasnt planning on using them for my next cannon

You can, but your threads will suck, but should work fine for most jobs.
