i know the ball valve speed depends on how fast you can pull it back and i normally just smack it backwards but i cant help but feel the air still isnt getting out fast enough and i have an unmodded sprinkler valve but dont want to go out and buy a blowgun and stuff and was wondering wich would be faster?

The unmodded sprinkler - without a doubt.
Even if you don't have a blowgun, do you not have a smallish ball valve you could use to mod it?
If you persist with a BV, then spring loading it can drastically improve performance and accuracy (think what slapping the valve open will do for aim)

yes i cant hit a glass jar at 10' away because of slapping the valve but i also cant afford a 28$ sprinkler valve at my over privced ace hardware because i broke the one i had trying to drill a hole in it so i guess ill have to wait till i get paid next week then get the valve ive got a blow gun and some hose so ill get the barbed hose adaptors to then ill have a gun i can acually hit something with lol

You cant hit a glass jar at only 10 feet due to your valve? My cannon uses a 1 1/4 ball valve and it turns really smooth so I dont get this "slap" effect. Try to use something to lube the valve.

like this, but the benefits compared to a modded sprinkler valves are minimal.
