Piston Valved Tee - Paintball 1.5"

<a href="http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c253/ ... .jpg"><img src="http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c253/TalonSpud/1.jpg" height="292" width="390"></a><a href="http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c253/ ... .jpg"><img src="http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c253/TalonSpud/2.jpg" height="292" width="390"></a><a href="http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c253/ ... .jpg"><img src="http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c253/TalonSpud/3.jpg" height="292" width="390"></a>

Main reason behind this build was hours upon hours of studying for the DAT exam and when it was all over I felt very much like building another cannon, plus my current paintball cannon is kind of weak having only a sprinkler valve and lots of dead space, so it gave me a good excuse to build another one.

This is a 1.5" barrel sealing tee with a 1" o-ringed piston and for actuation I can use either my ball valve or my modified blowgun that I bored out for max flow. I used some plumbers putty at the beginning of the barrel so the paintballs wouldn't fall into the piston area, to reduce blow-back and to maximize barrel length. At 60psi compared to my sprinkler valved cannon at 110psi this is much more powerful. The paintball hit the target so hard the paint literally vaporized and there was only remnants of the shell on the plywood. I would like to invest in a chronograph to give some depth to these claims, however I could instantly tell the difference in power. This thing is a beast for a 1.5" tee valve.

For those interested, it cost about $30 for everything you see in the pics (including the ball valve and blowgun) and around 1.5 hours of work on the gun and piston.

Also as you can see I am a huge fan of flush fittings and double walled guns which is why the entire chamber is couplings and not just sch40 pipe. Little more time and money, but I think it's worth it for the looks and the added safety. Any suggestions on a paint color? I was thinking like Krylon's green or yellow... I'm sick of painting my guns all black :)

Great gun, I especially like the flush fittings. You don't have to, but I would use some 60 grit sandpaper to eliminate the line between fittings before you paint it.

Thanks everyone. No, it's just 3/4" SCH 80... wish I had invested in at least the CPVC... it's a little more but provides a better fit. Oh well, I just can't aim downward otherwise the pb rolls out :(

awsome looking gun, just out of curiosity, why did you sleeve (right word?) the chamber in couplings?

Thanks, ya I was thinking not to do black because every other gun of mine is black as it is and I want to try something different.

killjoy - it's mostly for aesthetics, and I suppose a little added safety as far as ruptures due to pressure go. I just personally like the look of the entire gun being "flush" rather than having a lot of thin and thick sections.

I believe it looks alot better flush, its pretty professional looking

I agree with frank, it has a much sleeker look with the flush chamber.

I had the same problem of the pb rolling out. Just make a "homemade detent" Grind a screw very small and drill it just about 1mm into the barrel where you load the ball. Then you can aim your pb gun anywhere. (dont screw it in too much, otherwise the ball will break inside the barrel from trying to pass the screw.

Hope this helps

You should really actuate that piston with a QEV or a sprinkler...... you would see an unimaginable increase in performance

contructive criticism aside, that is the sweetest thing i think i have ever seen. the way you made all the fittings flush is..... awsome. plz dont paint that! it looks perfect already. Have you thought of getting an airosft barrel for that? i bet you could hit 800 FPS....... with one of those .25 g bb's.

Also, you should sand everything down so its all nice, sleek, and smooth......... Still, thats one of the nicest cannons ive seen in a while.

what do you use to fill the chamber?

A male quick disconnect, which is seen attached to the ball valve. He probably hooks it up to his compressor.
