Does anyone know an easy or at least reliable way to create a pneumatic pulse at about 60 - 80 psi without using a CO2 tank? I'm trying to make a gun that reloads compressed air quickly, more details later, but it's designed as a chaingun.

i say a battery-operated pump of some kind that can pump really fast, like a vane pump or something. problem is, youre gonna have trouble finding one UNDER 2000 bucks........ so.......

You could get a SCUBA tank but i am not sure what pressure they put out after it has been regulated.

SCUBA tanks I think are regulated twice, by why not use your own reg and decide on what the operating pressure is?
The only real practical way to do this is a compressor with a large tank capacity.

Propane.
But not in a pneumatic sense.
Depends how much of an open mind you have about the design.

use a qev, pump the tank up to 80 psi use a ballvalve to pilot, create at the other side of the ballvalve a pressure of 60 psi, during the shot the pressure will drop only a little resulting in some sort of pulse.
just an idea
