in the rules it says flour is the only solid fuel we can discuss hear. how would you use flour?
do you brown in and put it in your cannon and shake it up really good and spark it?
flour?
Not the only. You're allowed to discuss a fuel that is solid, provided it requires a gaseous oxidiser to burn. Hence, sugar, coffee creamer, etc... these would also be acceptable.gabeb123 wrote:in the rules it says flour is the only solid fuel we can discuss hear.
Anyway, you might find this link useful: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/sugar-a ... t4082.html
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

You need to get a very good suspension of the solid fuel. Fan(s) might not be enough, especially in a closed chamber. You might have to use compressed air and time the igntion with the blast of air.
It'll probably take a much stronger spark to ignite than what a typical BBQ piezo will do. A stun gun might be enough. I think you might have to go to an "electric match" or squib to get reliable ignition. (Easy enough to do, a 5 ohm or so resistor and a car battery or car battery charger is the simplest, there are many higher tech ways as well.)
Flour isn't used very often since it isn't fine enough and it's mechanical properties are two dependent on things like humidty. Non dairy coffee creamer is a common cheap and readily available fuel.
Go for it.

Coffee creamer granules have alot of surface area for their size, relative to similar grains. Very good burn rate.
