I'm new to this site, and been reading alot of the posts. I haven't heared of anyone using gasoline. Me and a friend made a couple of tater guns and found hairspray and axe sucks!! Gasoline is the way to go!!. We filled a spray bottle with gas, only $.52.

We are useing 2 one inch thick boards as a back stop. We pushed the barrel through a 2 inch piece of dence construction grade styrafoam then screwed a 4 inch long bolt with a head that is 1 1/8 inches wide into it. With hairspray or axe the bolt bounced off the board, but with gasoline the bolt went almost all the way threw the board!!! So much power.

We also found that gas doesn't evaporate fast enough when it's 30 degrees, so we put the spray bottle into boiling water.

[sarcastic] You are all wrong! You need all the propane in the bottle for a good shot. Because remember, more fuel makes a bigger bang! Then you screw on your "pressure rated" cleanout cap and push the ignitor! The potatoe flies like 1/2 mile before landing perfectly intact for you to find! [/sarcastic]

No really. Gasoliene is a horible fuel. And yes actually some companies have changed the propellent to CO2.
The best arosol fuel I have found is "Oust". It burns well, dosn't gum up the chamber, and smells good!

well ya but you are just eye-balling it. you never no if you are harnessing the maximum power butane can put out. butane is a very stable fuel and will burn clean and effective, not a bad choice.
