I have copious amounts of 3 inch schedule 40. Maybe a 4" Tee reduced to 3" for the barrel. Figure I could use the 3" tennis balls I use in my larger pneumatic if I wanted to launch something.

Thanks by the way, for the heads up on the 3-inch tennis balls. I didn't even know they existed until I saw you were using the Chuckit! balls.

You are right with the blast disk! Im not doing it quite like this, sealing it as good. I traced around the inside of the muzzle on a few of mine and cut a small foam core poster board disks and this works GREAT!

It holds in the gas and gives just enough pressure to let the crack really build up and the disk doesnt fly very far away making it easy to retrieve. The tennis balls are hit and miss on where they will land and being a $1. a ball ive lost about 5 of them now.

Wait till you see my latest. Im just now finishing up a trilogy of cannons, ill get a picture when i get the last one finished.

Finished, going to give it over night to cure before i give it first test. Im going to start off with 2/3 tsp of carbide and that full jug of water. The little one has a very sharp crack to it, it seems very finiky on the carbide amount. The 4" original thunder mug is the all around best, it will rival an M80 many think this is what it is.

Everyone seems to like the brushed metal finish so i went with that again. I bought a huge roll of it off amazon ive used every bit of the roll on these cannons.

This is going to be a fun 4th, if i survive ill post back :blackeye:

What a dud

I cant find the right mixture, the others came pretty quick but i cant get this one down for some reason.

I tried the 2/3 tsp because i figure its about the same size as the popular mechanics version but it wasnt loud. So far the 4"-3" are still the best

Going to try it a few more times tomorrow see if i can get it figured out.

I got all the parts for free so that makes it a little better i would of been REALLY upset if i spent $100. on this thing and is isnt performing anywhere near like the 4-3"

Well i'm still here, no mishaps or problems everything went very well. I didn't shoot them all but there are a few that i think are better designed and work better then others.

I figured out the issue with the 6" one, after testing about 10-15 times on the 3rd i really was let down and i almost left it at home but it looks so cool i had to keep at it. I did more reading with others that have used a 6" and i kept reading 2/3tsp of carbide 15 to 20 seconds wait after the powder hits the water.

WOW! that worked! here is what i can figure, the way the carbide works the little grains of carbide (the stuff i have is like 2F black powder in size its not dust like bangsite) as the granules of carbide hit the water they start to bubble in the water as they react its needs a little more time then the dust bangsite. Each granule of carbide wants its on space in the water so the carbide either separates and spreads out in the water or it settles at the bottom. So the first testing we did we stood the cannon straight up and dumped the powder then we laid it down on its stand INSTANTLY at about a 20 degree. Either the powder was leaving a ring around the edge of the water or else it was setting and once we laid it down the water separated from the power and it just wasn't creating enough gas quick enough before we tipped it over.

We then stood it up, dumped the powder then counted down, just as we hit 3-2-1 we laid the cannon down after all the gas was done forming and BABOOM!

So i think i shot it about 10-15 times on the 3rd and the forth about 15-20 times at full power or close to it.

There is a couple videos on youtube of a 6", one guy shoots his several times and it has a recoil stand called "home made cannon" or some thing. The blast audio almost sounds fake. Well i can say its real and mine sounds just like it.
